29, 2004) - Epsen Fuller & Associates,
LLC, a leading retained global executive search
firm, is sponsoring a cycling team to raise $50,000
or more to fight cancer by participating in the
Pan Massachusetts Challenge (PMC) for its second
consecutive year.
The PMC, a world-class fundraising event now in
its 25th year and presented by the Boston Red Sox,
is the nation's first fundraising bike-a-thon and
today raises more money than any other athletic
fundraising event in the country. On August 7 and
8, 2004, nearly 4,000 cyclists will travel six different
routes, logging between 89 and 192 miles over one
or two days, through 46 scenic Massachusetts towns
from Sturbridge and Wellesley to Bourne and Provincetown.
With 2,200 volunteers, it is also the most cost
efficient, donating nearly 94 cents of each dollar
raised and contributing more than $102 million to
lifesaving cancer care and research at Dana-Farber
Cancer Institute since its 1980 inception. The PMC
is sponsored by New England Cable News and MFS Investment
Management. To learn more about the PMC, visit www.pmc.org.
Last year, the cyclists raised a record $16.2 million
and the goal for 2004 is $17 million. FREEDOM
RIDERS, sponsored by Epsen Fuller
& Associates, with generous corporate support of
DRS Technologies, Ansell Healthcare and C.R. Bard,
seeks to raise more than $50,000 for this year's
ride.
Individuals, organizations and businesses interested
in making a donation can send a check, made payable
to PMC/Dana Farber Cancer Institute,
to Freedom Riders, in care of Epsen Fuller & Associates,
10 Park Place, Morristown, NJ, 07960.
Thomas Fuller, general managing partner with Epsen
Fuller and captain of the FREEDOM RIDERS
cycling team, will make the 200-mile, two-day bike
ride with local riders, Mark Williams, senior vice
president of human resources at DRS Technologies,
Karen Williams, student assistance counselor at
Morristown High School, and Michael Zedalis, chief
technology officer of Ansell Healthcare, all of
Mendham, NJ, along with William Borton of Medford,
NJ, an employee benefits consultant with Fleet Insurance
Services, a Bank of America Company, Mark Whitcomb,
chief executive officer of Engineered Component
Solutions of Westfield, NJ, and Glen Bannon of Newtown,
Penn., and vice president of SymRise of Totowa,
NJ. Additional team members will join them, from
as far away as California and Boston.
"What had started for me as a weekend cycling trip
to test my endurance, be with friends, and help
a worthy cause, had ended with a feeling of really
having made a difference in other people's lives
and the tremendous outpouring of support make this
a truly rewarding personal experience," says Fuller.
While raising money for cancer research and treatment,
the team will ride in honor of a pediatric cancer
patient, team
"Pedal Partner" nine-year-old Maddie Dillon,
who has been diagnosed with Lymphoblastic Leukemia,
who is currently being treated at the Dana Farber
Institute.
Mile after mile, the route is lined with people
cheering the riders on, handing out water, saying
"thanks for riding" and holding up posters such
as the four-year-old boy with a poster-sized picture
of himself captioned "Thanks to you I'm
4 years old now!" About
