MITSUBISHI TANABE PHARMA DEVELOPMENT AMERICA ANNOUNCES APPOINTMENT
Dr. David Gan Joins as Executive Director
EPSEN FULLER/IMD FILLS STRATEGIC POSITION
New York, NY. (December 14, 2009) – Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Development America, Inc. (MTDA), a research driven specialty pharma company, has appointed David Gan, M.D., Dr. P.H., M.P.H. to Executive Director & Head of Drug Safety. Epsen Fuller/IMD International Search Group conducted the search leading to the hire of Dr. Gan.
Dr. Gan was most recently the Head of Global Signal Detection and Safety Data Management with Bristol-Myers Squibb. Receiving his Doctor of Medicine degree from TongJi Medical University, Wuhan, China, Dr. Gan earned his M.P.H. and Dr. P.H. in Epidemiology from Tulane University. Board certified by the American Board of Preventive Medicine, he is credentialed as an attending physician at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and was formerly with the FDA with responsibilities including but not limited to Medical Officer and Clinical Safety Reviewer.
“The leadership, deep understanding and track record of success in the field that Dr. Gan brings will provide MTDA the expertise to orchestrate existing initiatives and the strategic guidance required on future drug development programs”, said John Gilbert, Client Partner of Epsen Fuller/IMD who conducted the search from the firm’s New Jersey office.
Dr Gan became a Commissioned Officer Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army Medical Corps and was deployed to Afghanistan as Medical Director for the Coalition Joint Civil Military Operations Task Force where he supported the United States Department of Defense and the Department of Health and Human Services to develop health related initiatives in this region. As a result of his meritorious service, he was awarded the Bronze Star. He remains in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Preventive Officer, U.S. Walter Reed Army Research Institute.
